College Advice: Busses

The Bus

An Anecdote

Our school was overcrowded to the point that we did not have enough classrooms for the scheduled number of classes. The solution was to have classes in the local movie theater down the street from the school, about a mile away.

Ali and I lived in the campus apartments, literally across the street from the school, so again, the theater was about a mile away. We had the same classes so we often walked to class together, leaving about a half hour before class started to make it on time and find a seat. Sometime, when we were feeling especially lazy, we would drive and find parking. (We’re terrible, I know)

This went on for 3 years. THREE whole years of walking in the heat, the rain, the wind. Being late and being so lazy we missed class entirely.

On our last day, a bus passed us like it usually does.

I had an epiphany.

Me: Ali, isn’t that the bus that stops outside our apartment?

Ali: Yea. So?

Me: Isn’t that bus’ next stop the theater?

Ali…Yes,

Me: Why didn’t we take the bus?

Ali: YOU DIDN’T THINK OF THAT 3 YEARS AGO!?

Me: WELL NEITHER DID YOU!

Lesson: If your student ID is a free bus pass… Check the freakin’ bus schedule.
